Privacy Policy
Last updated August 27, 2026
This policy explains what Let's Go Birmingham collects when you use Let's Go Birmingham, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. It covers the website and any email or text messages we send you.
What we collect
Three kinds of information:
- What you give us. Your name, email address, and profile photo when you create an account. Your phone number only if you choose to receive text messages. If you list events as an organizer: your organization name, bio, website, logo, and the contents of your event listings.
- What you do here. Which events you view, save, RSVP to, and click through to buy tickets for. We keep this as an append-only log and use it to build a private per-account taste profile that orders what you see. Views from signed-out visitors are counted too, but are not tied to an account.
- Technical basics. Standard server request data — IP address, browser, referring page — logged by our hosting provider, and the small amount of data your browser stores to keep you signed in.
What we use it for
- Running your account and showing you the events you saved or registered for.
- Ordering and personalizing what you see — the taste profile is the ranking input, and it never leaves your account.
- Sending the messages you asked for: registration confirmations, waitlist promotions, event reminders, and changes to events you registered for.
- Giving organizers the attendee list for their own events, and aggregate counts for events you did not register for.
- Detecting abuse, debugging, and keeping the service up.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Advertising and cookies
Let's Go Birmingham is supported by advertising. Sponsored placements are always labelled “Sponsored”.
We run no third-party ad network. Every sponsored slot is won at auction by an event organizer already listed here, and what you see is their event. That means no advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no data sold or shared with advertisers, and nothing about you sent to anyone in order to choose which ad to show — the winning bid is the same for every visitor that week.
Paid placements are always disclosed. Editorial coverage — including Editor’s Picks and anything written on the desk — is never for sale, and buying an ad or a boost does not influence it.
The cookies we do set are the ones that make the site work: keeping you signed in and remembering your light/dark preference. There is no consent banner because there is nothing here to consent to.
Who we share it with
Service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract, only to provide their service to us:
- Clerk — accounts and sign-in.
- Convex — our database and file storage.
- Vercel — hosting and request logs.
- Stripe — organizer subscription and promotion payments. Card details go to Stripe directly; we never see or store them.
- Resend (email) and Twilio (text messages) — delivering the messages you opted into.
Organizers see the name, email address, and RSVP details of people who register for their events, so they can run them. They are contractually required to use that only for the event in question.
We will also disclose information if we are legally required to, or to protect someone’s safety.
Text messages
Texts are opt-in per event, and opting in for one event does not opt you in for others. Reply STOP to any message to stop all texts to that number, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. Opt-outs are stored against the phone number itself, so a STOP is honored regardless of which account it came from.
Your choices
- You can edit or delete your account information at any time from your account settings.
- You can unsubscribe from any email using the link in it, and stop texts by replying STOP.
- You can ask us to delete your account and the data attached to it by emailing hello@letsgobirmingham.com. We will do it, subject to records we have to keep — for example, a record of a paid transaction.
- You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you at the same address.
Retention
We keep account data while your account exists. Interaction history and taste profiles are kept while they are useful for ranking, and are deleted with your account. Message delivery logs are kept for troubleshooting and for proof of consent, which we are required to be able to show.
Children
Let's Go Birmingham is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Events listed here may be family-friendly; the account holder must be an adult.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy materially we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell account holders by email. Questions? Use our contact form.
